Amazon’s new ‘getitfast’ delivery page lists items you can have in 1 hour

Amazon announced on Tuesday that it’s making it easier for users to find products eligible for its 1-hour and 3-hour delivery options with a new “getitfast” page for same-day delivery products available in their area. Amazon is also introducing new search filters for 1-hour and 3-hour delivery, along with tags on eligible products – which could be convenient, but could also do even more to squeeze out local businesses if this becomes a popular option.

Amazon says it’s planning to continue expanding availability for its same-day delivery options:

“The convenience of 1-hour delivery is currently available to customers in hundreds of cities …

Nintendo Switch 2 update adds ‘Handheld Boost Mode’ for original Switch games

Nintendo Switch 2 update adds ‘Handheld Boost Mode’ for original Switch games
  • Save

Nintendo’s latest update for the Switch 2 will upgrade the performance of original Switch games played in handheld mode, as reported earlier by IGN. When you turn on the new Handheld Boost Mode, the Switch 2 will force original Switch games to run as if the console is connected to a TV, allowing for better visuals.

The update should give original Switch titles a much-needed visual boost, as they were previously limited to running in 720p in handheld mode – the resolution supported by the Switch 1’s screen. By making Switch 1 titles run in TV mode, games should be able to take advantage of the Switch 2’s 1080p display.

Why Project Hail Mary’s creators were ‘scared’ about making the sci-fi adaptation

Why Project Hail Mary’s creators were ‘scared’ about making the sci-fi adaptation
  • Save

Project Hail Mary is a natural follow-up to The Martian. Both movies are based on sci-fi novels by Andy Weir, and both have bankable stars in the lead role (Matt Damon for The Martian, Ryan Gosling for Project Hail Mary) and accomplished directors at the helm (Ridley Scott for the former, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller for the latter). Even still, Drew Goddard, the screenwriter on both movies, went into Project Hail Mary with a lot of trepidation.

“My first thought was, ‘Oh god, I don’t know how we’re going to make this into a movie.’ I was so scared,” he tells The Verge. “I didn’t want to let Andy down. But I realized how challenging it …

Poco’s first Pro Max phone earns the name with an 8,500mAh battery

Poco’s first Pro Max phone earns the name with an 8,500mAh battery
  • Save

Xiaomi subsidiary Poco has launched the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max phones, both of which feature large silicon-carbon batteries, powerful chipsets, and 256GB of storage as standard, with stronger specs on paper than the recent Pixel 10A despite costing less. Both Poco phones also feature a surprisingly subtle take on RGB lighting, with small rings of LEDs inside each of their rear cameras.

The X8 Pro Max, a new tier in Poco’s X line, is the more exciting of the two thanks to a huge 8,500mAh silicon-carbon battery – with an even larger 9,000mAh version available in India and some other markets. Either way, it should make for two to three days of …

Oppo’s nearly creaseless foldable isn’t launching in Europe after all

Oppo’s nearly creaseless foldable isn’t launching in Europe after all
  • Save

Oppo has launched its “zero-feel crease” foldable, the Find N6, but while we knew it was unlikely to launch in the US, it’s a shame to discover that the promised “global” launch is also leaving Europe out in the cold. Instead, the Find N6 will go on sale from March 20th across what the company called its “key markets” in Asia, along with Australia and New Zealand.

It’s a shame, because like the Find N5 before it, the N6 looks to be one of the best foldable phones yet. The standout feature is of course its crease, which I looked at in detail last week. Helped by a liquid 3D-printed hinge column, it’s the shallowest crease I’ve seen on any fo …

Samsung discontinues its Galaxy Z TriFold after just three months
  • Save

Samsung is preparing to axe its first three-panel foldable phone less than three months after launching the device in the US. Sales of the $2,899 Galaxy Z TriFold will first be wound down in Korea and then discontinued in the US once remaining inventory has been cleared, an unnamed Samsung spokesperson told Bloomberg.

This follows a report from Korean media outlet Dong-A Ilbo on Monday that says the TriFold will be getting a final domestic restock today, March 17th. Samsung’s website stopped providing future restock updates for the foldable earlier this month, with the TriFold currently listed as “sold out” in the US.

It was only availabl …

Leaving civilization is now easier with this ‘off-grid utility core’

Leaving civilization is now easier with this ‘off-grid utility core’
  • Save

Klumpen isn’t an off-grid cabin, but it does provide all the utilities needed to live away from civilization comfortably. The seven-square-meter teepee is an “off-grid utility core” that provides solar-generated electricity, satellite broadband, a shower, toilet, and small kitchen. It’s expected to cost around $35,000 plus an estimated $3,000 to ship within the EU.

The idea is to drop a factory-built Klumpen next to a small cabin and just press “on” – no need for any extra permits, plumbers, or electricians. The electrical system is built around a 7.5kWh battery with inverter to power standard 230V appliances and wall jacks. Water is recycl …

Hands on with Aqara’s new Matter-compatible camera

Hands on with Aqara’s new Matter-compatible camera
  • Save

The first Matter camera is here – sort of. Camera support came to the smart home standard last year, and Aqara’s Camera Hub G350 is the first to support it. The G350, which was announced at CES, launched this week and is a pan-and-tilt indoor security camera with up to 4K video resolution.

Today, the G350 only supports Matter on Samsung SmartThings, as none of the other platforms have added Matter 1.5 yet. I’ve only had the camera setup for a day, and it took several firmware updates before I could connect it as a Matter camera. So far, all it can do is stream a live feed, which is far less than what Samsung promises Matter cameras in Smar …

The Live Nation trial restarts with a ‘velvet hammer’

The Live Nation trial restarts with a ‘velvet hammer’
  • Save

After a chaotic week following the Justice Department’s mid-trial settlement with Live Nation-Ticketmaster, the antitrust trial picked back up surprisingly smoothly on Monday – this time, with dozens of states leading the case.

This isn’t the outcome the states originally wanted. Out of concerns about being able to effectively take over the case and fear that the jury would be prejudiced by the shakeup, they requested a mistrial, which would have restarted the court battle at an unknown future date. But an irritated Judge Arun Subramanian seemed likely to deny the request, and once the states figured out how to retain the DOJ’s expert witn …
